Sean Moriarty
Head Band Director Sean Moriarty is entering his sixth year teaching music education and his third year as Head Director at Jim Barnes Middle School. He teaches all the Beginner Woodwind Classes, co-teaches the Concert Band, and is the director for the Honor Band. The Barnes Band program carries a long tradition of excellence and is a consistent UIL sweepstakes award program. Mr. Moriarty attended Coppell High School under the direction of former director, Scott Mason and graduated from the University of North Texas. While at UNT, Mr. Moriarty studied under the direction of Dr. Nicholas Williams, Dr. Henry, Dr. Emmaunel, Dr. Powell and numerous other professors. During college, Mr. Moriarty was a member of UNT’s music fraternity, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, working on music service projects, and performing music for parts of the Denton community. He was also a member of UNT’s Green Brigade marching band, playing both Alto and Tenor Saxophone, Sousaphone and serving as the Saxophone Section Leader his second year. Mr. Moriarty is also a current member of the Texas Music Educators Association and Texas Bandmasters Association. Mr. Moriarty has been involved in Drum Corps International marching Tuba for the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013 under the brass direction of Jason Buckingham. He has been a part of Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps teaching on the Visual Staff in 2015 and Brass Staff in 2017. In addition to teaching music, Mr. Moriarty enjoys spending time with his family in Dallas when he can. His hobbies include cooking, cars, watching Formula 1 and European motorsport, and PC gaming. |
